Written in 1996-1999 for double bassists Bertrum Turetsky (USA) and Fernando Grillo (Italy) Contrabassimi plays upon the unique physical properties and sound of the double bass while commenting on music’s legendary ability to "save lives" and "soothe the savage and wild beast" (see the Orpheus legend). Contrabassimi begins on the streets of New York City and takes us to another world of unknown consequence. A homeless person is about to have the experience of a lifetime.
