1) Sight Singing
2) Dictation
Write down both voices of these short two-part pieces. In all cases the
bass line is essentially just a descending bass. For each note in the
bass state whether the bass note is the root, third or fifth of a triad,
or perhaps just a dissonant passing note, and what triad it will be.

is a quarter note rest in the top voice to start with. First note in

3) Composition
Above each of the bass lines in part 2, compose a new tune. Try to prolong
the same triads.
4) Listen to the Mozart Sonata,
the Biber Mystery Sonata, the Pachelbel
Canon
Above and beyond: Find some songs that use a diatonic descending bassline.
