This debut album, Speak Volumes voices the body, the mouth that speaks and sings, and looks at its mediation through technology. The collection of works explore the kinesthetic, the moving body, and physical utterance. It ventures into what the body and mouth say and don’t say: from the wordy, spoken voice that tells stories or anecdotes, to a ‘voicing’ of the physical body in ‘Snapdragon’.
Composed during and informed by the writing of Singing the Body Electric – the Recorded Voice, the Mediated Body, this music explores the human body, the spoken and singing voice of the composer and collaborators, and the relationship between the human voice and technology.
